QA Sample Coordinator

Basic Purpose

This position will complete the duties of the lab as well as serve as a backup for all SQF, QA Tech and HACCP duties. This position also has record keeping responsibility for the FSQA department. In addition, this position will prepare and ship all samples in accordance with appropriate departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Daily review and compilation of process control, pre-operational inspection, AQL sheets, retail labels (tray pack, packing, deboned products) and daily documentation on appropriate checklist form.

2. Perform AWA verification per schedule and as needed

3. Performs QA lab duties:

• Salmonella samples

• Campylobacter samples

• Water samples

• Environmental Swab-testing, plating, evaluation

• Sample packaging for third part lab pick up/shipping

4. Prepare and ship customer samples for the sales department

5. Learn and be functional in all QA Technician positions as a backup. Perform direct observation and verification checks as needed with QA techs.

6. Conducts in house shelf-life studies under the supervision of FSQA Management.

7. Performs pre-operational inspections when needed.

8. Backs up FSQA Supervisor

9. Respond to questions, concerns and problems as required.

10. Maintain inventory count of cooler boxes and ice packs needed for sample preparation. Place order for replacement inventory as needed3

11. Ensure and participate in compliance measures to meet GMP, HACCP, SQF, Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, and federal standards related to food safety and quality guidelines.

12. Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Plainville Farms business objectives.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Associate degree in Poultry or Animal Science, food science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

• Ability to organize, plan, and complete work in a timely fashion.

• Willingness and ability to learn and perform all of the jobs in the department.

• Ability to recognize and respond to changes appropriately.

• Demonstrated positive attitude and uncompromising regard for quality and food safety.

• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of people.

• Strong reading, math, writing, and analytical skills.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
