Production Supervisor

Basic Purpose

Responsible for planning, directing, and controlling facilities and grounds maintenance operations at the New Oxford Plant and Distribution Center to ensure efficient and safe operations in accordance with HPPC goals.  Provide effective leadership and assign responsibilities; train, monitor and improve the performance of reporting staff in accordance with Company policies and government regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • 1.    Develop equipment and facilities maintenance policies, procedures, and systems, including preventative maintenance programs, and coordinate implementation and compliance.

  • 2.    Source vendors for maintenance projects and equipment, and recommend to Plant Manager and VP Operations.  Oversee approved projects and installations with selected vendors, ensuring compliance with budget, schedules, and quality of work.

  • 3.    Ensure that routine routine equipment checks are being completed on all PLC’s and essential equipment.

  • 4.    Provide for training of maintenance team members to increase technical expertise and employee safety.

  • 5.    Actively participate in the Company’s safety programs and committees to achieve an optimum level of employee safety. 

  • 6.    Keep abreast of current maintenance and manufacturing technologies and systems.

  • 7.    Ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, EPA, EEO, and other appropriate government regulations.

  • 8.    Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support HPPC business objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for approximately 35 maintenance employees at the New Oxford, PA location.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the HPPC’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and seven to ten years of related maintenance management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.  Poultry plant maintenance experience preferred.

  • Strong technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate and relate to people at all levels of the organization, and with outside vendors.

  • Initiative and innovative thinking to meet challenges with resourcefulness.

  • Ability to work effectively with all HPPC stakeholders, and motivate reporting personnel to meet/exceed expectations.

  • Well-organized and self-directed individual who is able to successfully plan, manage, and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with computer software, including Word and Excel skills.
